Tanja Vos is professor Software Engineering at Open Universiteit in The Netherlands and at Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain. She has dedicated her career to
advancing the field of software testing through her extensive research and more than 25 years of teaching experience. Tanja Vos has been involved in numerous research projects on software testing in an industrial setting. She has successfully coordinated various EU-funded projects related to software testing, demonstrating her expertise and leadership in the field. Her involvement in various Erasmus and Leonardo initiatives has helped to foster a better understanding between academia and business. Her research and industry experience have led her to work with many companies on automated testing projects in an industrial setting. Tanja is the project lead for TESTAR.org, an open-source project that aims to create an intelligent tool for automated testing at the Graphical User Interface level.

Abstract:
The participants will experience how a pair programming team works. Working in a single pair is different from working on your own: You have to articulate what you want to do, the other person (probably) has some different insights, and the result will be different from what you would have done on your own. But… this is only half of the story: working in a Pair Programming Team has many more advantages: knowledge is spread, the team creates an own style, parallel development becomes easy, truck factor (http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?TruckNumber) is reduced. The team creates the product (instead of individual programmers creating the parts), the product is a whole, not a mixture of individual results. You will learn about the necessity of agile tools like daily standup meetings, pair rotation, coding standards and collective code ownership, how they work, and what their effects are. You will experience improvements for the quality of you product, and for the productivity of the team.

Mijn ervaring en kennis in testen gaan van hands-on tester, testcoördinator, teamleider, testmanager, testconsultant tot coach.
De contexten waarin ik heb gewerkt zijn divers: van banken, consumentenproducten, embedded software, overheidsorganisaties tot infrastructuurtesten.
Bij het testen heb ik gewerkt met requirements-based testing, data-driven testing, geautomatiseerd testen, rapid software en exploratory testing, en natuurlijk de traditionele methoden zoals ISTQB.
Van 2000 tot nu heb ik geprobeerd creatief en innovatief te zijn in wat ik doe en mijn kennis en ervaring te delen. Uiteraard blijf ik mezelf ook bijwerken met de nieuwste kennis van andere testers via boeken, blogs en conferenties.
Ik ben ook wereldkampioen softwaretesten sinds 2016, omdat er sinds 2016 geen wereldkampioenschap wedstrijd meer is geweest, maar dat is oké.

Ik ben een allround innovator en technisch evangelist, meestal werkzaam als software architect, product owner en/of lead developer. Business alignment met technische roadmaps is een van mijn passies. Bryan Bakker, Senior Test Architect at Sioux Technologies (www.sioux.eu).
Na het behalen van zijn master in computerwetenschappen in 1998 heeft Bryan Bakker als software-engineer aan verschillende technische systemen gewerkt. Sinds 2002 is Bryan gespecialiseerd in het testen van embedded software in multidisciplinaire omgevingen; in deze omgevingen werkt de software met andere disciplines zoals mechanica, elektronica en optica. Hij heeft gewerkt aan onder andere medische producten, professionele beveiligingssystemen, semi-industriële producten en elektronenmicroscopie-systemen.
De laatste jaren richt Bryan zich op testautomatisering, betrouwbaarheidstesten, ontwerp voor testbaarheid en modelgebaseerd testen. Bryan is ook tutor van verschillende testgerelateerde cursussen en een veelgevraagd spreker op internationale conferenties.
Towards integration as a non-event: MBT experiences with electron microscopes
Model-based testing is the next step in test automation. The results achieved at Thermo Fisher Scientific (developing electron microscopes) are very promising both on quality and speed of development.

Bob is al sinds 1995 werkzaam in het testvak en werkzaam als testadviseur, testmanager en coach. Hij was in 1994 de eerste persoon ooit in Nederland die afstudeerde op het onderwerp softwaretesten.
Bob heeft bijgedragen aan de totstandkoming van de testmethodes TestFrame® en Risk and Requirements Based Testing. Samen met o.a. Iris Pinkster heeft hij het eerste boek over TestFrame en het boek “Succesvol testmanagement: een integrale aanpak” geschreven. Hiernaast is Bob meer dan 10 jaar actief geweest in het bestuur van de landelijke vereniging voor professionele testers, TestNet, waarvan 6 jaar als voorzitter. Hij spreekt regelmatig op nationale en internationale congressen. In 2008 was hij Programme Chair voor EuroSTAR, het grootste Europese testcongres.
Bob is ISEB Practitioner en IREB Foundation gecertificeerd. Hij is als docent verbonden aan Improve Quality Services.

Frank is een kleurrijk persoon in de wereld van IT en softwarekwaliteit; iemand die je zowel om zijn inhoudelijke skills als zijn humor leert waarderen.
Hij begon zijn carrière als QA-tester, waar hij zijn dagen besteedde aan het ontwikkelen van geautomatiseerde tests en het vinden van de kleinste foutjes in software. Als er een bug was, dan vond Frank ‘m. Zijn scherpe oog voor detail was legendarisch, en zijn collega’s noemden hem al snel “De Bug Whisperer.”
Maar Frank is niet iemand die zich laat vastpinnen op één rol. Hij groeide al snel door naar de functie van testmanager, waar hij de taak kreeg om testteams in toom te houden. Dit deed hij met een combinatie van geduld, charme, en een arsenaal aan grappen die zelfs de meest gespannen collega’s aan het lachen kregen. Zijn team wist dat, zelfs als de deadline naderde, Frank altijd wel een manier zou vinden om de stemming luchtig te houden – vaak met een droge opmerking die precies op het juiste moment kwam.
Omdat stilzitten niet echt in Frank’s woordenboek voorkomt, besloot hij zich ook nog eens in app-ontwikkeling te verdiepen. Waarom niet, toch? Nu combineert hij zijn talent voor het opsporen van bugs met het bouwen van apps die soepel lopen en waar gebruikers blij van worden. Frank kijkt niet alleen naar de code, hij begrijpt ook wat gebruikers willen – en dat maakt zijn werk zo waardevol.
In een notendop: Frank is de man die je niet alleen nodig hebt om het werk goed te doen, maar ook om de dag een stuk leuker te maken.

Having some 25 years of experience as a professional in test automation, Martin now deals primarily with its success. That success is defined as lasting business value, and this does not follow from technical skill, but is not rocket science either.
Mindset, not technical skill, determines success in test automation
The strong emphasis on technical things is quite damaging to the success of test automation. Strategie – what you do it for and how you will achieve that – is just as important.
In test automation, how do you make a real difference for your employer or customer, and thus for your career? By learning another technical trick or a tool? No, that is just the ‘how’ of test automation. Doing it well lets the automation work with limited maintenance. That is a good thing, but it does not distinguish you from countless others. You will only really stand out if you pay as much attention to the value of the automation to the organisation as to the technical side. And that is not self-evident, for a number of reasons.
Two questions are quite important:
– What should be the goal of the automation for my organisation? (Just ‘speed’ does not really help!)
– What is needed to achieve that goal? And then all of it, please, not just the obvious parts.
This presentation offers you everything you need to go for your automation goal like a SpaceRockIT tomorrow, in the shape of a proven method. That goal can be the (adjusted) automation goal for your organisation, or faster growth in your career, but preferably both.
